The marina at Porto Petro is small with room for yachts only up to 12m in
length. However, it backs onto bars, restaurants and shops with telephones
nearby. This quiet town is an attractive backdrop for the marina. A deposit
of 2,000 pesetas is required when using electricity or water in this port.
For larger craft it is possible to anchor in the bay. Due to a flash flood
seven years ago there were a great many large tree branches strewn around
the seabed, so that use of a trip-line on the anchor was recommended, but by
now this is not usually a problem as only the occasional branch remains.
Club Med, who have a holiday complex behind the beach here, are attempting
to make the beach a private one and to ban visiting yachtpeople from
landing. However, to have private beaches is impossible in Spain and any
attempts to persuade you otherwise should be met with a polite refusal to
leave. |
